The SEPA hinge was released onto the world market last October.
Sandbrooks have the latest and strongest Stainless, invisible hinge in stock, now!
Taylor Made Systems Pacific use SEPA Invisible Hinges supplied to us by Ginieco Australasia

The SEPA-hinge is unique in its kind. A very sophisticated articulation of small dimension with an exceptional loading capacity combined with innumerable mounting-possibilities make this a practically universal hinge.
It is used in many fields :
- from wood to metal and plastic
- from office furniture to home furniture
- from doors to windows
- from nautical and aeronautical to vehicle equipment
- - from classical to modern design.
The invisible SEPA is strong, small and gives the designer a lot of freedom for creativity.
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
- INVISIBILITY
The SEPA-hinge is called invisible because it is completely embedded in the wood. Therefore the surface of the cabinet is not spoilt any more by protruding and unaesthetic objects as it is with the conventional visible hinges. The SEPA-hinge is ideal when elegance, design and solidity are essential requirements.
- OPENING ANGLE
The opening angle of 180 degrees is ideal for many uses : TV-cabinet is only one example among others.
- ARTICULATION
The uncommon characteristics of the SEPA-hinge are due to its exceptional articulation which does not exist in any other hinge. It consists of a very sophisticated combination of brass elements which fit together very precisely, not leaving any space in between. These elements are then held together by seven stainless steel pins with a diameter of 2mm.
From the clever design of the articulation we gain two essential advantages : its solidity and its stability, two points where the SEPA-hinge has no rival.
- SOLIDITY
A conventional hinge has 1 (o 3) supporting pins, where the SEPA has seven. This simple fact speaks for itself :
SEPA is considerably stronger than any other hinge of the same dimension. In fact, the weight of the door is supported by 7 pins instead of only 1 (or 3).
Furthermore, the contact length between pins and brass elements is much longer in the SEPA than in any other hinge :
Mod. 1.23 = contact length 161mm (23mm x 7)
Mod. 1.34 = contact length 238mm (34mm x 7)
Mod. 1.70 = contact length 490mm (70mm x 7).
More contact length means smaller risk of rupture, because each point of the pin is supporting less weight. It is the same principle than in a continuous hinge, but with the advantage of a much smaller size
The third element which contributes to the solidity of the SEPA-hinge is that of the material used : solid brass for the structure and stainless steel for the pins.
- STABILITY
The sturdy structure of the SEPA-hinge with its tight-fitting brass elements, eliminates the fault common to many other hinges, which is the tendency to weaken with the years.
This means, that doors do not shut properly any more, simply because the hinge has not been constructed to withstand the weight of the door over a long time period. SEPA will stay intact even after many years of use.
- STAINLESS
The SEPA-hinge is made only of solid brass and stainless steel. Therefore also in extremely damp conditions (ships, oil platforms etc.) will it function without any problem.
- ADJUSTABLE
The SEPA-hinge is vertically adjustable up to 5mm in order to make up for eventual differences in the height of the mortise (boring).
- VERSATILITY
- The SEPA-hinge can be mounted on wood, metal or plastic.
- It can be used on overlay or inset doors
- It is most suitable on thin doors (from 23mm)
- For curved doors, SEPA may be the only fitting possibility.
- REDUCED SIZE
The SEPA-hinge needs little space for fixing. It is invisible from the outside to preserve the elegance of the piece of furniture as well as from the inside because it is completely embedded in the wood. As a consequence more room is disposable inside the cabinet (f. ex. for bigger drawers).
- ELEGANCE
The elegance of the hinge itself :
- invisible with a closed door
- because it has a slim line, it is not noticeable with the door open, also at a 180 degrees opening, as it protrudes only 7mm.
The elegance of the piece of furniture :
- Thanks to the many possibilities of application, it is possible to create beautiful cabinets.
- SEPA remains invisible also in furniture with glass doors.
- SECURITY
- There is very little space left between the door and the frame; therefore there is no danger in getting your fingers caught between the two parts. Children will appreciate it !
- The SEPA-hinge protrudes only very little from the wood, which not only saves space but also reduces the danger of hurting your hands on the inside of the cupboard.
- The hinges are totally concealed, so it will be more difficult for a robber to break a door from outside.
- UNIVERSALITY
Some of the many possible uses :
- Office and home furniture.
- Furnishing for aviation and vehicle industry
- Doors and windows
- Ship equipment
- Do-it-yourself
- Cases for musical instruments and cameras
- Wherever elegance and solidity are required.
- FIXING MATERIAL
It is delivered with wood-screws (brass- or nickel-plated). For very thin doors it is possible to use short screws with expansion bolts (but not on chipboard).
- PACKING
Further to all the fixing material, each package contains fitting instructions and a diagram for assembly. One box contains :
Mod. 1.23 = 20 pieces
Mod. 1.34 = 20 pieces
Mod. 1.70 = 10 pieces
- FINISH
- OPAQUE BRASS
- NICKEL-PLATED BRASS
- WHITE - BLACK - BROWN (from 500 pieces)
